OUDDORP (The Netherlands)- The blue shark that was stranded on the Dutch beach at Ouddorp has been successfully released back in the North Sea.
A blue shark in the North Sea is quite rare. What the shark was doing in the cold shallow waters off the Dutch coast is not clear. It was not sick or wounded.
Thanks to bystanders who tried to help the shark back in the water, the biologists at the Oceanium, in the Blijdorp Zoo in Rotterdam managed to quickly bring the shark back to health. Head of the Oceanium, Mark de Boer, thinks it was only because of the help on the beach that the shark is now back in the ocean.
