RECIFE (BRASIL)- A young woman died tuesday after being attacked a day earlier by a shark off a Recife-beach in northeastern Brazil.
The 18-year-old resident of Sao Paulo was rushed to the hospital in Recife after monday’s attack. She lost a lot of blood and her her leg had to be amputated,
Recife is one the most popular seaside resorts in the northeastern state of Pernambuco. Sharks are not unknown here.
A total of 58 shark attacks, 28 of them fatal, have been reported over the past 21 years.
