SYDNEY (AUSTRALIA)- Sydney’s famous and overcrowded Bondi Beach was closed on new year’s day after a big shark was spotted.
Hundreds of swimmers were told to get out of the water after a large great white shark was spotted on Tuesday. A surf patrol boat reported seeing the shark during a routine surveillance triggering the shark alarm, which warns bathers to get out of the sea.
Earlier, a great white shark that attacked a lifeguard as he rode a wave on Sunday is believed to have returned to the same spot off a Sydney beach.
The unusual behaviour of the 2.5m great white is causing concern among lifesavers and rescue crews, amid refusals by surfers at Dee Why to leave the water.
